Research

Dr. Young’s research concerns Situated Cognition as a theory for understanding how people think and learn, and focuses primarily on how educational technology can enhance thinking and learning. Research on assessment using Log Files (dribble files) from multimedia hypertext has been supported by Spencer Foundation. Dr. Young’s work and research combine an emphasis on theory from cognitive science and educational psychology with development activities applying the latest instructional technologies. He is working in the area of playful learning and game-based learning to construct board games (Influence), card games (card tamen), and online role playing experiences (Project Technologia) to enhance the graduate learning experiences of teachers seek to wisely integrate emerging technologies into their classroom instruction.
